BIG BLUEBONE | ||
Right on sunset in Darwin Harbour, the large endeavour prawn I had positioned just above the rocky ledge in 60 ft of water was suddenly engulfed by a freight-train! Convinced I had hooked a decent jewie, I put my back into it and soon had the fish off the bottom and on the way up. Imagine my surprise when this beautiful black-spot tusk fish, or 'bluebone' as they are known locally, finally broke the surface! Even this size they are marvellous table fare, with soft but very tasty white flesh, although the bones (which are indeed blue in colour!) may take some getting used to! |
